New coil question on Xterra coils

DFXDon

Member
I have all the water proof xterra coils and was wondering about the 10.5" water resistant coil What is the best coil the med freq or the hi freq 10.5" coil to use for open field detecting I mainly hunting coins and rings in school yards and other gathering holes ??

Both are good for coins. If you're hunting for rings, the HF coil provides a bit more sensitivity and will give more accurate TID on lower conductive targets. JMHO HH Randy

I second what Randy said about the HF coil.

Thanks guys I was sort of favoring the HF coil too.

If you haven't already ordered one, let me know, as I might be willing to part with mine. It's been a dust collector about long enough. Anymore, I hunt gold in the water with a different machine.

I vote for the MF coil. If your going after the old coins the MF will do better if your ground is a lil on the hot side.

What coils do you want to part and also there condition, with or without skid plate and price.
thanks
Don

For open field detecting the 10.5" DD MF coil is hard to beat, its great on both clad and silver, nor are nickels any problem either...

I only use the 7.5 khts DD coil, works good , have had most of the high freqs but sold them . I find gold and silver with the medium coil .

I use the Mf 10.5 and it is pretty good in the fields. It is a thick coil and makes you trust it in depth and it has proved that to me. Now about the Hf 10.5 I have no experience about it and something is telling me I should. These coils I think they are amazing both of them. Now it is your opinion one to choose and how to use them.
