New Coil

I have a Minelab Safari and looking for a new coil to beach hunt.

I am looking at the

NEL Big 15 x17 Coil
Detech 18x15 SEF Coil

not sure this works with the safari
Detech 21X 17 SEF Coil

Which would you recommend?

I have the coil that came with the machine and a 6in Excelerator EQ2 PRO Double D

Selecting one of the coils you listed for beach hunting will cover more ground with each sweep but the trade off will be the weight and balance associated with the larger coil.

The Detech 18x15 is the largest coil for the Safari (or other FBS models).

The 13" Detech Ultimate coil weighs 480 grams or 17 ounces.

While it might not seem to add much weight compared to the stock coil, when you swing that weight at the end of the shaft with the ergonomics of the Safari, you will start to feel it. You gain a little in depth with a larger coil but with the DD design, the real advantage is coverage.

If you can see one before buying it, that might help you decide how large you want to go. I have a Coiltek WOT larger coil - similar to the 16" Detech coil - and have found myself switching back to the stock coil after a few hours of swinging on the beach.
