Dear Friends,

Attached are a couple of photos showing some finds using my new Compadre at two different Parks recently.
There is one "nitro" item in each photo (Costume jewelry). See if you can find them ;)

The lists below are coordinated with the items as arranged in the photos and should help to identify each.

Pic hpqscan0003.jpg (36.0 KB) shows the following:
(1) Hook ear ring, 3-drop
(1) Quarter
(4) Dimes
(3) Nickels
(6) Copper Pennies (Pre - 1982)

I will have the Sterling silver cross evaluated. It has a stone with facets. Probably not worth more than $40.00, if that.

That little Compadre is a coin and jewelry magnet ! I love it's light weight and single dial. Discrimination is all you need to be concerned with and I have locked-in on one setting that produces......the "F" in Foil, thanks to member "Smudge" and his post in this forum "Compadre Hunt--June 4,2011--A Good Reminder", posted Jun 04,2011, 01:59:23 PM.

Well, a nitro is one that you dig up that looks like you just paid for your metal detector only to find it's costume jewelry that makes you wonder why the heck it couldn'ta been gold.:ranting:

Thanks slingshot.......... You just upgraded my MD'ing knowledge base !

Now I know what to call the wee bit of jewelry I've found so far.

I'll be posting a couple of photos today of recent finds; each group of finds includes a nitro........see if you can find them !

I also found two other nitros at different locations some time ago, a gold-colored Avon ring with stones and a silver-colored ear stud with a stone; that makes (4) nitros altogether...whoopdee-do ! But now that I have that "jewelry magnet" Compadre, I believe my chances for some high-value silver & gold jewelry are much better. :heh:

P.S.: This post should have gone ahead of the one above to be in proper sequence.....Sorry !
