New CZ3D, worth getting tuned by Tom D?

Hey all my uncle just ordered a new CZ3D, is it worth sending it in to Tom D to get tuned up?

I sent in my cz and his report was detailed. It takes him a couple/few hours to tune it properly. Mine came back with 1"-1/4 more depth and most nickels are now high toning. So it was a good move for me.

It's not huge money and in my opinion worth it, especially for resale value if you decide to sell.
I can't say how it improved my machine because I have a new machine and sent it to Tom before I even used it.
However, it is a deep one! I won't give you depth numbers Tom tweaked it to but suffice it to say it is extremely impressive.
Every machine is a little different and it wouldn't be fair for me to put unreasonable expectations out there by citing numbers.
Having said that, your actual conditions along with Tom's magic may have you shopping for a better digging tool!
Drop him a line and give it a shot. IMHO you won't be disappointed.
Cheers

Yeah I emailed him, gotta wait for the machine to get here haha. Should be here on weds.

Do you get high tone on nickels with your machine?

Ryann, before I sent it in, many nickels were the 3rd tone....supposed to be high if tuned to spec.

No expert here but think most CZ's are 3-tone the 3-d has 4 with the extra foil tone and the nickel " window " is tight/small? HH

Old nickles such as the V-shield and some buffalo come in lower on any unit...and read foil or nickel to foil bounce, properly tuned the CZ3D should pick up these older nickles with a high tone.

Got to put in my 2 cents worth here, Tom is worth every penny an he is extremely nice to deal with. An yes you will need a good digger when he is done.

Good luck

Lets be fair here, you still have to do your part. If you want to take advantage of any of the CZs you should get Tom's DVDs and watch them several times. He is amazing and inspirational with his skill and enthusiasm! He was a huge help to me when I was getting started. :detecting:

I would as it is cheap insurance that your machine is up to par. You won't be laying in bed at night wondering if your detector missed a nice old coin because it wasn't tuned properly. JMHO.

Just to add 2 more cents to Harold's comment. If you are new to CZs and buy a used machine, I definitely would send it to Tom to go over. This will remove any doubts about how well it is performing and if someone has played inside it and messed up the settings or components. Tom is the best for this and as straight a shooter as I have come across in this business.

Can Tom tune a CZ-21, or is the waterproofing a problem?

Tom only tunes analog CZ's and will not do digitals CZ's......imagine keeping the water integrity may be a problem but would PM him.....

I previously asked him about tuning the water machines.
He responded that he does not.
I'd love it if he did tune the cz21 though!
