New Detector

In the market for a new detector. I have two fishers a CZ3 & CZ70 pro. Everyone company says more depth, but you have more frequencys on the EXPLORER 2. Does that make a big difference and how about gold, how does this detector differ from the other brands in trash and gold?
I understand the EX 2 comes with a 10 inch coil, does anyone have problems with a larger coil and is much depth lost on a smaller coil?
I live in California and had a Explorer the first one that came out and it was not to stabel had a hard time understanding it and was not use to the weight

I've owned and used both of the machines you have. The best thing about them was the comfort of use. I switched to the Explorer 2 because I wanted better target ID at depth, better stability, and most of all to eliminate iron signals which plagued previous machines. The sound ID on an Explorer is nothing short of outstanding and the visual ID is also great due to the dual axis plotting. Lots of machines achieve significant depth but if the ID either by sound or visual isn't as good you dig yourself silly. I got exactly what I wanted in a detector with the Explorer 2, my depth continues to improve, and I've already passed all other machines I've owned. The price to be paid for it is weight. The Explorer is heavy and that can't be denied. I overcame that by using what's called a swingy thingy. It's an inexpensive bungie harness and it solved the weight issues. Nothing is as comfortable to me however, as a chest or hip mounted detector but it's a minor trade off I was willing to make. What may also be important is the type detecting you do. I detect inland soils packed by yard use and always have. Sand and/or desert soils may be altogether different.
