I've got one on the way along with Andy's handbook. Any beginner advice or instruction would be appreciated. I've poured over the threads here and am looking forward to checking out the handbook. I'm coming from a 705 by the way. Questions to follow I'm sure. Thanks!!

You will be happy with your new detector and hopefully the threads you have reviewed here as well as the book when you receive it will shorten the learning curve . . . . just remember, what I tell people is

"DON'T MAKE IT MORE COMPLICATED THAN IT NEEDS TO BE!"

Once you get a solid foundation, you will find the Deus is pretty simple to setup for almost any condition you come across . . . . and anther tip is don't change settings each time you go out . . . all that will happen is you will get frustrated.

Feel free to post your questions and you will get some solid info in return

Andy

Set the option to make the scale the same across all frequencies of operation. It keeps things sane.

Got her today. Man this thing feels like a million bucks. Got to use it for an hour or so in my yard. I found three keepers in areas I've been over multiple times with my previous detectors. I'm sure there was plenty of luck involved, but I think I'm gonna like this dude. I just kept it in program 1, the basic, and tried to hear and see what it was telling me. I can't wait for more swing time.

Congrats. Let us know how you get along with it. If you have any questions, you already know that there are plenty of people that are always happy to help on here.

Don't over-think it and just have fun is my best advice. The Deus sings its own tune, and if you are coming from a different detector, some find it hard to adjust. My recommendation is to just swing it, don't tweak it too much at first, and pay attention to the different "textures" of tones as you start. Some are scratchy, some are sweet, some are soft and some are bold, some are round and some sputter. It will all make sense to you soon enough if you just have fun and don't try too much too soon.

Stick with it. Once you and the Deus begin to understand each other, loot will follow!
