New Digging Shovel I Got From Predatortools

I bought the Raven recently (about 2 weeks ago now). I test ran this in my backyard. Our property being from the late 1800s. I used my Goldbug and took the Raven for a test drive. Since it rained recently, the ground was slightly softer at upper levels but still frozen at lower levels. It cut through the first layers with no problem, and the frozen layers with actual ease as well. Find some post-modern coins, probably from myself over the years! 1960s+ but I highly recommend this shovel. I got it from xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx but I recommend no foodpads since they are a bit pricy. But, above all one of the best shovels I used. I have not tested this in a wood areas yet, but on the serraded sides I believe it would have no problems.

Predators are great digging tools. I've tried all the top names and nothing stands up like they do. HH jim tn
 
Yeah, they want $20 for the pair of footpads. Still looks like a great shovel for the price..
 
I plan on ordering one this week :biggrin:. Instead of spending the $20 on the foot pads I have a section of thick marine grade plastic (Similar to cutting board material). I'll probably just shape out a piece to fit on the router table and secure it with some short stainless carriage bolts.

Tried mine out yesterday and was really pleased with it. My ground shark shovel is 38" and thought 40" might be a little long but it was fine (I'm 5"11"). I didn't buy the foot pads and feel that they aren't really necessary (especially for $20). My ground shark has a kick plate in the back and sometimes it kills my knee when I use it. My right knee was saying thank you all day :detecting: It's a rock solid shovel. You can't go wrong with it. :thumbup:
 
I think they are worth the money from George. Now, trying to drill the holes to mount them is another thing, I've burnt 4 bits trying to drill that hardened steel. Any Ideas on this????
 
If possible slow the drill down and apply more pressure. You can also start the hole using a much smaller sized drill, and keep it lubricated with water while you are drilling.

I just noticed on the video you posted that the holes were already drilled right out of the box. Perhaps someone at Predator forgot to drill the holes on Morelic's shovel :confused:.
 
No, No holes in my Predator, It's an older one. I got the pads from the factory.............MO

I'm lost, maybe he was talking about a different Predatortool or a different brand or something where he had to drill the holes.

My Raven shovel showed up today on the big brown truck! The first thing I noticed is that it is a lot lighter than it looks in the pictures. I was expecting it to be on the heavy side, but it's only a tiny bit heavier than my current wood handled shovel. Also this thing digs perfect plugs! :thumbup: I mainly bought this for a woods and open farm field shovel, but the holes are as clean or better than those I dig with my Lesche digger so there may be a few circumstances where I may use this on turf as well.

I would have preferred a "D" style handle, but other than that this shovel is just about perfect! :clapping:
 
Well, I know they have D-handled ones if you ask. I asked George of Predatortools and he said they were $95.95 for D-Handle. I still prefer my T-handle.

I sure would have liked to know that a few days ago! :cry: The only version they have listed on the website is the T handle.
