Mike that chrome detector is got a lot of us wondering buddy. Its probably going to help the ratings any how. I know I'm going to watch it. I have on demand cable. I have watched all three of the episodes a few times. HH TIM

Got to love the android spell check.

Great show Mike. I too was very alert when you reeled out your silver proto-type. Very excited, it held my attention.

How do I get a job like yours buddy. I'm envious for sure.

Just finished watching for the first time, and the show is much better than the rest, although that's not a difficult feat. The values the appraisers come up with are pretty accurate, but someone needs to do some serious sound editing. One second a T2 sound like a T2, and the next second it sounds like an Explorer. The guy doing the editing needs to learn what each detector sounds like before randomly plugging in sounds. Reminds me a little of the movie, "National Treasure", when they were using a 1266 that sounded like a Geiger counter.

Exactly. Best show I've seen so far. Some dramatics added for reality TV. That 1806 silver was a pretty sweet find. I like how they talk about the numbers. I hope they don't give in to the reality TV trend and fabricate situations. Very enjoyable show so far!

Its entertainment. That follows a lot of our interests. There was a new show on last night. I thought it was pretty cool.

I agree. Match the audio with the correct machines. This was a negative to me as well. We need more recoveries and less "scripted" talking.

I'm sure they use canned sound effects for editing in the sound. The masses that watch never know it's off somewhat.. The Sound editors most likely have no idea which detectors has what sound..

I've read where the medical shows hires real Doctors to make sure there isn't anything wrong with terminology, diagnosis, meds and etc. Car shows hires mechanics... Even the show Doogie Howser had Doctors on the set. Don't you think they could have had any one of the "actors" review the show before it aired to make sure this stuff didn't happen? I had high hopes for this show but was let down. I rate this show equal to the Diggers show. All these guys know we are looked at as crazy by a lot of the public. Parks being shut down. Beaches closed to hunting. Why add to this stigma? Why?
Do you remember shows like Jacques Cousteau and Wild Kingdom? These shows were factual, to the point and long running. Why can't a real detecting show follow their lead?
Just think if Jacques asked someone if he could search the private waters of someone that didn't know him? He says "sit back and what our show to see exactly what we do." He would get permission in a heart beat. Right? Now lets take any of the hunters off of ANY of these shows. They want to hunt an old Civil War camp that is privately owned. They say "sit back and watch our show to see what we do" they would get chased off with a shotgun....

Shoot what do I know I'm just a Kid !!! I know when we did radio sound footage out in the field it was edited at home station and participants were at the mercy of the editors..

I'm sure your right about where the show went to edit. Maybe they should put numbers on the coils and make them match the pre taped audio?

I know they are the real deal but the scripted comentary is not for the most part. It sounds like they are reading cue cards in a lot of cases. This is just one of several errors in the show. As with the Diggers show I do however enjoy the history of the sites and finds not the actions of the actors.

It sounded like they did live sound bites of the sounds. It just didn't get added at the correct time when editing and splicing in the bites.

I love the show and all of you that hunt on the show...only thing is I would do almost anything to be able to go on a hunt like that...

I want to like this show because of the hunters involved, but other than that it's pretty much like Diggers with team competition instead of individual competition.
Ditto on the sounds not matching what is going on. And it looks like some of the 'finds' are pre-dug, just look at the disturbed soil. That's likely a 're-creation' of the actual find event. How hard can it be to have a technical expert (like one or more of the hunters) review the finished product?
I also grow tired of the American reality TV formula ... spend half of your programming time teasing going into and coming out of commercial breaks. It's hard to watch a 30 minute show with 10 minutes of content (feel free to run your own experiment to determine how much non-repeated content there really is).

Just my opinion, no offense intended if your opinion is different.

I watched 15 minutes of it last night for the last time. All the dancing and butt slapping is just silly. Couple that with the most hated relic hunter ever and you've got what's known as a "mini series". I'm sure I'd take the money like everyone else to be on it, but after I watched it I'd be embarrassed. I'm sure all involved are.

She hit the US plate with her digger on the last show.:nopity:
