Took the M6 down the street ( Local Park) It worked well and I liked it.
I used the 6x10" DD coil..Had all kinds of problems trying to pinpoint with that little S>>>>>>>>>>>>
never did get it right. Could not find the middle no matter how I tried. Could not pinpoint off toe either. I will have to learn how it pinpoints if I keep it.Thats for Certain. M6 worked flawless no chatter good read outs and easy to swing. If you are hard of hearing this machine might help( It is loud on target responses) very loud..Seemed to Id items fairly well and only miss called one. Gave 10 cent High Silver reading (82) on bottle cap. Once target out of ground it read 55...........Over all I like it ok..But you never know..I still like my XLT better. It's very possible this excellent machine could find a new home along with the extra coils.... LOL

Take a piece of cardboard..tape coin on one side...try to pinpoint...mark with a pen see how close you get...Cross out x each time you guess otherwise gets confusing...Try a few different coins so you get used to the sound. Heard the m6 is a coinkiller...good luck!:detecting:

In the pinpoint mode mine targets right in front of the "ears".. But the depth will be off..

elton , dont spazz, on the centering < as you know the 6x 10 detects strait down the middle of the coil like a sheet of paper from tip to tip but it is like a paper plate cut in half its deepest detection point is in the center SO" on deeper targets center in the center using the trigger pulled back VCO on shallow targets you can center off the tip but what i was doing was when i hear the beep i go side to side back ward until it gets faint the pull the VCO toggle and go forward untill i get the highest tone thats it its in the center dig dig thats a good coil goes 5" whith my M-6

Thank You........Will give it a try both ways. I 'm sure I will get the hang of it.
It's just a little different than anything I have used that was DD....................Appreciate your help

How hard is the 8x14 deep scan 1400 coil to pinpoint..Got one of those too.
That may be near impossible !!!

Hi Elton,

I have an XLT and the M6 also and personally feel the XLT is the superior detector due to it's overall versatility but the M6 has superior qualities for certain type hunting and would consider it more a tandem rather than either or as the M6 has amazed me with it's abiltiy to pick through the trashy sites with smaller coils due to the very quick recovery speed using very little or NO discrimination. I mainly use the M6 after the XLT did it's thing using the 950 800 and 5.3 coils and located the areas with the highest concentration of targets both good and bad .This is where i feel the M6 is the better choice especially when using the smaller coils, "0" or minimal discrimination and tone id. If i had only one choice of the two it would be the XLT but i would surely miss the M6.

Cosmic stated where the central pinpoint location is on the 6"x10" coil and you will also notice the the depth reading will vary as you move the coil and wherever you notice the most shallow depth reading just slide the coil off the the side in a horizontal straight line and will most likely be the leading edge of the coil tabs and just remember you have about 3" or so of coil offset when digging. As far as the hot tip or "toe" pinpoint location when using the DD coil on the 6"x10 coil the target location should be just under the Whites logo as thats where i seem to get the strongest initial target response. Just some thoughts HH Bill.

The 6X10 Ia a very good coin coil for fast coin hunting
I pin point at the tip of the coil.
You may need to try te 5.3 coil first.
The key is to learn the coil.... te M6 is a A KIler coin hunter.

Thank you Bill..Yes it did seem like I was off about 3 or 4 inches everytime I tried to dig the target.Thought I was on it but i wasn't.

This may seem a little silly too some of you, but do you have any idea how appreciated each and everyone of you are.
All one needs do is ask, and you get straight forward ,good ideas, and helpful hints at how to get the most out of your detector.
Thank you each and everyone. Your all a great bunch of people !!!!

Go into pin point mode and slowly sweep left to right to left, until you get the loudest VCO sound
and the lowest indicated depth. The target is located along an imaginary line along the front to back
tip of the DD.

Now, while still holding the pin point switch in, slowly slide the coil back, along the imaginary line.

When you hear a sudden drop in the VCO sound STOP. The target, if shallow (2" - 3"), is located right off the tip of the coil. If the target is deeper (4" or more), it is located a little ways in from the tip of the coil, right about where the White's logo is. This doesn't work if when you slide the coil back you slide over a new target. If the VCO doesn't drop off, hit the target from a different angle. You can x the target with a DD coil it just takes longer. Rob

1.. I prefer the XLT to the M6. Yes, I like the M6 and even the MXT, but I prefer the XLT of everything White's offers today.

2.. Double-D coils can be a little challenging to PP with, but aren't that difficult. It's just a matter of practice. Whereas you can stand in one place and work a good concentric coil (like the 5.3 Eclipse) left-and-right to the loudest response, then forward-and-backward to locate the loudest response, the same can be done with the Double-D coil. I never use the "off the tip" method.

You can use a 90
