Thanks,

Yes I see why you do like this machine.

Can't wait to get out more. One note i have made is when sens at 28 and gain at 10 it LOVES tiny pieces of foil!!
And yes it was as stable as ever. :smoke:

Good Hunting!

Yup,
I'm a new user as well. Can't wait to practice more, so that I know what I'm doing!
I'm just not sure of the sounds I'm hearing.
This turning the clocks back didn't help getting out to the beach after work though.
Well,I have three day weekends so I'll be out there.
Keep up any advise you all care to give
Thanks

Oh the sounds are quite logical, the lower the pitch the lower the conductivity, look at the smartfind to confirm it if you like.
(using conduct sounds)

I'll give you the classical tips if you've missed them:
1. Go slow
2. Overlap your swings
3. use a good coil size for your ground conditions (i.e. high trash a small coil)
4. Keep to the factory settings for a while, it will make it easier to learn
5. I prefer to pinpoint by looking where the signal faints, not using pinpoint.
(slowly moving coil to where the signal fades, the signal is received at best in the middle of the coil)
6. Watch the DVD/video's and so on. (a few times is recommended)

I also noticed that at 5 in gain it does give you a modulation, which can help you to tell approx depth, deep or shallow.
Probably other settings give you modulation also, experiment.

Many Thanks, for the advise
We will be out there tomorrow morning at the low tide. in St Augustine FL.
We also have a MXT.
Later

When at the beach it should be no bigger problem to run gain at 7 or more.

It will make it easier to find small gold jewelry and such, often small gold register as foil.
Gold rings can come in around the nickel range.

Well basically if you dig it all you will get all good finds the detector can reach. ("see")
Thats what I'd recommend on the beach.
