New explorer model feature i would like to see.

The display on the explorers gives the user quite a lot of information about the target, for me i think that the dual readouts of ferrous and conductivity are unbeatable but i often wish that the third parameter i would like to have on my explorer 2 is a target size feature. Maybe something just as simple as three numbers , lets say number 1 for small targets , number 2 for medium size targets and number 3 for say targets like tin cans etc. What do you guys think, do you think something like this would be the icing on the cake..Personally i think a target sizing feature would be great...

Would be a plus but with the Explorer your hardly looking at the screen anyway, your listening. The same goes for target size When I hit the pinpoint I can tell if its a coin or not by the way it sounds. Don't get me wrong its not 100 percent sure but the coin size feature on the Garrett is about as accurate.

A better balanced shaft like I have seen some people do on this forum.

I don't think I need another reason not to dig something. Like everything else, I find the numbers are only good on textbook shallow targets. The best stuff i've found sounded right but was all over the screen. I don't think its that hard to get a good idea of target size using the coil and your ears. The only extra numbers I would like to see on the screen are for a good chiropractor/physical therapist in my area and maybe throw a few pain killers in the box. JJ

Just like they have like say a New Holland Skid-Steer. Then you know how many hours of hunt time you've logged onto that detector.

Ive aften thought that it would be nice to have a hr counter even more so since I just got a etrac about 3 months now. It would be nice to keep track of how many hours I have put on it maybe put like a total hrs and like a trip hr that you could reset.

What I would really like to see on a new Explorer would be an expanded ferrous & conductive numbering system. In theory it would seem that the larger range would mean that pull tabs might show up differently than rings. For example: instead of having 32 segments in ferrous and conductive, have 128 each way. I think that the greater precision might just be enough to separate the good from the bad. Lets say that on our current Explorers a pulltab comes in at 6 ferrous/20 cond and a gold ring reads 7 ferrous/21 cond. By increasing the range 4x, the pulltab would read at 24 ferrous/80 cond and the gold ring would come in at 28 ferrous/84 cond. There is a greater spread between the two. If the gold ring and pulltab both have the same reading then it wont make any difference. But,lets say the area is littered with pulltabs. Some are bent, some are broken and some arent but they all read in the (new system) 23 to 25ferrous/79 to 81 cond range. Then the gold ring would still stand out at 28 ferrous/84 cond. In the current model you cant see this difference. This is just a thought in theory. One wonders: Why cant they do that?

The E-trac has an expanded conductive scale over the explorer, going up to 50 now. On my old xs I never used the digital anyway but at that time is was only conductive.

I didn't own an EX II or an SE so I don't know those settings as well. But the E-trac allows changing the pin point from ratcheting style to sizing. I recently changed to sizing which holds the sensitivity steady while pin pointing allowing me to get a better idea of the size and shape of what is under the coil.

I can tell the size of a target with the SE PRO. Keep putting in tikme and you will know target sizes especially from a coin to a can. I do not coin hunt but I know when I have a button, a bullet, a coin vs a can or large iron!
