This is my second Fisher as I also own a GoldbugDP. I find the ground balancing process to be about the same, along with a few other functions, so the detector already has a familiar feel to me.
Using the suggestions I found on here from Mike Hillis and others, I run it at 80-85 sens and thresh around -2. Hit the Hi school last night and found 2 set of keys, some clad, pull tabs and the usual foil goods.
My gb is around 51, and I can run the sens and threshold higher without much EMI, although higher may not be better with the F5.
Here's the questions.
What happens when the F5 overloads on a target. Can't find anything in the manual for that. I think I know the answer, but I want to hear it from someone else first.
Can't figure out the A tones adjustment. Manual says it varies the pitch of the base tone. Does that mean it only changes the tones of iron objects, or does it make changes to the threshold tone? Like I said, I do have a hearing loss, but I am able to figure out the D tones just fine. I lean towards the D3 setting.
I did try out my new 5" Goldbug coil on the F5, and depth and ID #s matched up with the same for the 10" coil.
Thanks and HH
Tony
I really like this F5 machine. I am a tweaker by nature, and the F5 has lots of room for that.
