New F75 LTD question

choppadude

Active member
Just took delivery of my new F75 LTD and have a quick question.
It says when turning on it displays the serial #. I have hear this also dates the machine. Mine starts with 1 15 14 00
Can anyone tell me what is the manufacture date? I know some models had the "mama" issue and want to make sure this unit is not in that range. Also I want to check and see if I am getting this whole issue correct, this only does it when pinpointing in the 1N discrimination mode? Any info from members would be greatly appreciated. Although I have been detecting for awhile, this is my first Fisher unit.

Ok,

My best guess is 1-15-14 is Jan 14th 2015 - the 00 XX LE is the actual ser # and LE means Limited Edition (the XX represents the two numbers you did not provide) 1-15-14-00-xx-LE would be to full grouping
1N is not a Process or Discrimination mode. 1N is a tone where Iron is muted from making a sound

The 3 Modes are...... Discrimination, All Metal Static and All Metal Motion.

The Ma Ma would be heard in Discrimination MODE using any Process like De when using the Tones of 2H and 2L and only while trying to pin point an object.

Hope this helps

The 11 14 dates had the mamma bug...i had one happened in 2 tones, with the bug there was a loss in All Metal depth...but not with all 11 14s.
"The mamma pinpoint Bug" actually helped with the pinpointing, and i would not be surprised to see it as an added feather ....just a different sound !
Chopper your`s is the newest manufacture issue .

Some seem to think the numbers reflect the manufacture date. I don't think so, I think its either a soft load date or a software batch load date. I say because folks with problems with 11-14 dates, got them back repaired with say 12-xx or 01-15 dates.

To add, my machine is a 01-15 dated machine, so 2 years from now if I have to send it in for repairs, when the repairs are complete and a software load is needed, when I get my unit back, What date will show up in screen when I power up machine???

Hi
I called Fisher to ask them what it meant.
The date is the day the unit had the software installed.
The software version is 9.0 and 9.2. All upgraded units have the same software.
The next software version needs to be a higher number like 9.3 or 10.0.
That is the way revisions are labeled.
The Mama was caused by a hardware issue on older units.
Before the upgrade my software version was 7.1 and I had the Mama too.

I sent mine in during January of 2015 and it displays 01151400xxLE. So it would seem MMYYDD?

Is it 9.2 now? I have a 1-15 unit and it has 9.0 and 9.1. Has Fisher changed something again to a 9.2?

So it looks like I am good to go. I fired it up in DE mode and tried pin pointing in both the 2H and 2L and seems fine with no "mama" issues. Shouldn't have gave it much thought as I bought from a reputable dealer but the "cabin fever" does strange things to a guy LOL!
