New F75DST or F75SE non DST

I'm from western Pennsylvania.I have used almost every mid and high end machine made, and the f75ltd2 is the deepest I've came across.Alot of users like the deus, and the deus can be set to be deep but it was just too much fuss for me,kinda like an old lady primping to head out for church. So I kept my f75ltd2 instead and have no problems getting deep with standard settings and minimal adjustments.Boost is just a flat out animal in my soil, punches at least 2 inches deeper.I rarely use it though,de seems to get the deep coins, and I'm talking pinpointed deep.
That's why I'm surprised to hear the f5 is deeper.I don't doubt it,just would have never guessed it.I want depth but Somtimes it's a little over rated as my coins are maybe 1 in 30 that are at the 10 inch mark. Most are within 6 inches...I was looking at the f5 as a different change of scenery from the f75ltd2 for parks and ballfields ,just a little lighter clad stabbed to change things up.But if it is deep that's a big plus.

Maybe I over stated, the F75Ltd I have now I got in March of 2014 and in Dec. I sent it out for the upgrade. So it would seem from reading above that we have machines that are not all the same level of performance.

So the F75Ltd I have now is the only one I could compare to and the F5 I had is deeper than my F75Ltd even in boost, and both machines using the 11"DD coils.

I'm pretty sure you are right on the various performance thing. I know each of the three I've had and have are a bit different depth performance wise, anyway. Which, is often the case with most Mfg. I have a A T Pro, 2nd one, and I know for a fact it is a good inch deeper then my 1st one. Or else my hearing has gotten better and at almost 77 yrs of age that is doubtful. Anyway, the F 75 platform is a good one and will hang in there with the best in many ways. HH jim tn

Hi Jim,
The F5 and F75 are different animals. About the the only thing they have in common is the discrimination scale and the Fisher name.

Ron hit the nail on the head. The F5 recovery speed is friendly to our brains. The F75 recovery speed isn't as friendly. That is one reason the F75 gets ran in boost mode so much, even when it really isn't needed, because it slows down the recovery speed to a level where its easier for us to process.

I would say the F75 has more potential for depth as compared to the F5 just because it has more raw horsepower available under the hood. The hard part is channelling that into something our brains can process.

That is one of the best put ways of the f75 I've ever heard,,your right on the money about boost slowing the machine down enough to comprehend what it's saying..lol...thanks for that report.

Thanks Mike. I still like de the best on the 75 for day in, day out hunting. I've been tempted more then once to try a F 5. If nothing new comes out shortly, I just might. Thanks again. HH jim tn

Mike:

That is about the best "Made Sense " post concerning the F-75 I have ever read.. I hope many read it..and comprehend what your saying about all that process speed.

Well put Mike!

That's why having the audio, and TID, autonomous of one another on the F75, is a good thing, from my perspective.

It took me a bit to wrap my head around that separation of responses, but, the more familiar I became with it, the more I like it.

Over the years, I have learned to take claims of depth capabilities between models/brands with a grain of salt. With every such assessment an asterisk ( * ) should appear, with a " *results may vary " warning. The depths attained by any machine are dependent on so many variables like, ground mineralization, knowledge/experience of the user, settings, coils, etc., that to make blanket claims of depth superiority can be somewhat subjective.

I used boost for a long time on my F70 and one day switched back to DE speed...man I could really tell a difference between them.
Using that speed in both modes is exactly how I have found many targets including bucket list items in trash infested and iron filled previously scoured sites and then now in mineralized soil here in the SE.
It took hours and hours of practice and slow coil movements to notice the good indicators and get used to listening for and seeing the extremely fast changes in audio and jumping numbers on the screen using all metal or disc really low down at 0 or 1...especially in DE speed.
This is not an innate skill...it has to be learned and is not easy and confusing at first but way worth the time if you can get used to it.
A friend of mine that uses an E Trac was hunting with me in a mineralized extreme iron infested site and I pulled out my headphones and let him listen and watch the screen as I moved the coil around and he was baffled as to how I could make sense out of the speed of changes and all that was happening on the screen and the audio.
I just told him practice...lots of practice, enough that now it all seems normal and effortless to me now.
He said to him I seem to take in a ton of information, way more than he could handle, and I let my brain do all the discrimination which I guess is as good of a description as any.
He knows it works for me because he sees what I find in areas we both hunt together.

My brain might not work so great and efficiently in some of the more simple and mundane things that happen in life but when it came to learning how to be successful in extremely difficult situations you might come across in this hobby I seemed to adapt pretty well.
Priorities I guess.

Yea my v6 T2 was not as fast as the F75 se I have and makes the old T2 more tolerable.
