new Garrett suggestions

I have an Ace 250 currently. I want to give it to my wife so she can join along with the hunt. I am looking for a new detector. I have about $500-$600 to work with. What would you suggest and why? I mainly look for coins in fields and relics. So if you can please provide me with some suggestions that would be great.

The A T Pro Dave, all you will ever need in a detector and it is waterproof, I have owned one for a month now and very pleased I bought one.

It is a very good detector and has made my other detectors redundant.

If you don't want to have to buy anymore tectors for a long time go with the AT PRO as it is actually four detectors in one.

Explain to us feeble minded foks how it's 4 detectors in one, Uncle Willy? I'm not doubting your word for a second, I just don't understand it. Ever since the DOT cut my phone line while mowing the right of way, my dial up speed has dropped from 47 kbps to 24 kbps and if I go to a site like Garrett's with a lot of pictures, it just will not load it and I guess I need to go to the library and use their broadband connection. Read up on the AT-PRO. Maybe watch some videos. It sure is easier to just ask you or some of the other more experienced people on this forum than to drive to the library. Yep, I'm lazy, I admit it. The four in one answer may be this....It can be used as a gold nugget/black sand machine....underwater machine...relic huntin' machine and a general all-around coin shooter.

[size=large]it may be treason on this site but for your money a differant machine that's more versitile and better balanced is to be had for between $500-$600 bucks. it would allow you to really expand your hunts and has a very big following. i've seen how well a ace250 can do in the right hands. the gti 1500 has more bells and whistles but is still the same machine as the ace. from what i've been seeing for instance is they aren't know for relic hunting. they can be used there and some folks swear by them but the biggest rep is held by other machines that will also allow you to coin shoot and relic hunt and prospect and have more coils to pick from.
i'm for what will get you the best for the money. garrett is one of the top three but for your buck i'd go with a whites mxt. more to learn but you feel great using it.they are being dumped in exchange for the new and improved mxt pro. so the prices have dropped also. if i could i'd get one in a heartbeat.

nothing personal, but i would disagree. I just bought a pro(still waiting on it) after reading the in depth analysis from this fisher engineer that goes by the name nasa tom. Long story short he said once the flasing issue is taken care of(which the new units that are shipping have supposed to have been corrected) that it is a top end machine for $600(it can be bought new for under 500 shipped-at least mine was) and it is quite an achievement. If an engineer from a competing company states that I figured it has to be good. here is the link to the thread about it.
