New Guy and New E Trac form GA

Dirt Driven

New member
Hey I'm a new guy from GA and I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I just got my E Trac the other day so I have a lot of learning to do. I ordered Andy's book and looking forward to reading it and hopefully learning all I can. I have been hunting with a BH Pioneer 202 for the last couple of years so the E Trac is quiet a step up. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone

You are in a great area . . . . . I get back there regularly for some relic hunting and can put you in touch with some Minelab users if you are interested . . . . drop me a PM if you are.

I could meet up with you if our schedules matched on one of my trips when I am not testing new equipment

Sounds like you went from a Corvair to a Bentley. You made the right choice. Just remember the 12 line Most good targets will fall on this line. Can't wait to see the Treasures you will find. HH...Jesse.

what do you mean the 12 Line most good targets fall here? Do you have a pic of this 12 Line?

Best of luck with your new detector. Can't wait to see what you find. Happy Hunting!

Welcome aboard. Get prepared to see some good finds on here. Always makes me want to go dig and maybe drool a little. I'm in NEGA, near Gainesville. I'll second krayola, be prepared to upgrade your digger.

Hey I am hoping to find some good stuff. I think I will do a lot better when I learn the detector more. I feel like right now I am flying blind. I live in Blue Ridge so we are not that far apart. I think about 1 hour.

I don't remember who to attribute this advice to, but I will repeat it. I mostly relic hunt (hunt, not find) and it made a world of difference to me when I set the machine to 2 tones, ferrous, pitch hold; along with Andy's pattern posted on here previously. You'll still get some high falses, especially on rusty square nails, but once you find some good targets amongst the iron you will begin to here the difference. As you learn the machine you can up the number of tones to get more target information. But for me, all I really want is a machine that can accurately say, "Hey, there is something besides iron down here. DIG IT UP!" So far the etrac does that for me.

E-Trac screen is 35 lines deep (going down on the y axis) and 50 lines across (on the x axis)

The 12 line is the twelth line down (y axis) and all across all fifty (x axis lines). Good targets hit, but are not limited to, on that line. Depth, trash, conditions and other factors sway the reading of the "12 line" though. If you can watch a video where they show the E-Trac detector face being used you'll get a good idea how this works.
