New to these forums, cause I'm new to the hobby. Just got my first machine(Alpha 2000) last week. I went to my sisters house to use it...found a 1935 quarter, a 1909 Canadian large cent, a really cool brass rosette, and about $1.50 in clad. I love this hobby! Going again in just a lil bit!

Welcome to forum! You're hooked and there's no turning back.:detecting:

Welcome to the forum. Good choice on your first machine. Teknetics is great.

The Alpha 2000 is one machine that goes deep, deep and I.d's well.
But gets little attention. I can't think of a better bang for the buck.
Blows the ace 250 out of the water, had two of those, one for wife and another deal $100.00 brand new

Don't get the new detector bug (I nearly died from it!). Learn detecting and your detector for at least a year (IMHO). Know you will find stuff you missed as you get better, you don't need a better detector until you really understand what it has you really need. I've averaged better than 4 detectors a year for five years detecting. II understand I need a 12 step program and a new pin pointer! Merry Christmas!
PS You family should know how to shop for you now!

Thanks everyone...I have since upgraded to the at pro, but still use the alpha in my yard with my daughter. She found an Eisenhower dollar and was hooked instantly as well. I found a lot with that puppy though...when you say deep you weren't kidding...now exaggeration- I found a really cool enamel coated kettle(blue&white) at 27"! I measured it
