Actually, you're probably not too far off. Whomever comes out with the first detector incorporating interferometry, is going to clean up. If you don't know what an interferometer does, it's an instrument in which wave interference is employed to make precise measurements of length of displacement in terms of the wavelength. It's used in over the horizon RADAR, and in frequency agile SONAR.

It is not unreasonable to assume that interferometry could be built into a hand held detector case. It is just a matter of computing power vs. battery life, and both are getting better everyday.

Yeah...the hardware store was fresh out of plutonium-ion batteries the last time I checked..

Nah - you could throw a quad core ARM Cortex A15 running at say 1.5 Ghz into a detector and power it with 2 Lithium Ion cell phone batteries and get decent runtime out of it.

n/t

I have the technology already to do that..................I can detect...AND PINPOINT a BB up to 2 Ft deep......But I just remembered I can't pinpoint that well ALL THE TIME.........Or find any silver or gold for that matter...UUUUUHHHHH........Back to the drawing board.......:heh:
