Who knows! Learning how to can. Preserved some jalapenos the other day. I am going to can some tomatoes very soon. Put up some shelves today to store some goods. Next project, pressure cooker to can some vegetables. Been out on the property today mulching my fruit and nut trees. Sure you guys know all this already on how to can stuff and such. I kinda think I need to get back to basics and learn some of the past. Never know when it may come in handy. It really concerns me to know that old ways, tried and true have been forgotten. Teach your children on the older ways. Besides, we all know, grandmas stuff tasted better than Walmart!:|

Yes, the younger generations may have to go back to what has been and need to know how to grow veggies and can them! I used to have a small garden in my backyard and grew tomatoes, cucumbers, corn and etc. plus canning the tomatoes and making tomato juice and made jelly but haven't done that in years because being alone, it is easier for me to just buy what I eat and not go through all that trouble when I usually don't feel like it! Our children and grandchildren have had it so easy but without working and raising the good stuff, we've all eaten the chemicals and preservative in foods which cause cancer and all kinds of illness and diseases! Also, working the body makes it healthier beside eating healthier food products! May God Bless and have mercy upon us all! Enjoy the fruits of your labor, Ronbo! Amen! Ma Betty

did 67 pints of my famous salsa this year!

Well, Mike you and your salsa couldn't do without each other! LOL!!! May God Bless you and yours and enjoy the salsa! Amen! Ma Betty

I love to can!!! We don't have much land, but we raise the biggest garden we have room for and I can pickles, beets, etc. My mom always canned when I was younger and I loved to watch and "help". I know of no one my age that knows how to or cares about canning. It seems to be a lost art. Don't think it's cheaper to can you own produce, but it is MUCH better! We can control what we put into our bodies and be fairly self-sustaining if we need to. In this crazy world, we all need to know how.

Hey Mike, Do you make hot salsa to get you thru those cold winters? I only make mild....yep, we are wimps! Lol.
