Hello everyone,
my first post and my first decent find. I bought my first detector this week from Kellyco (BH Pioneer 505). I'm loving my new hobby and detector. Here's a pic of my first notable find last night....I know...allot of first's!

This is a 1888 Indian Head One Cent Piece.

I've seen that there are some redate 1888 over 1887's that can bring some money, but this thing is so corroded, It's hard figure what I have.

I do believe that Indian has George's nose profile.

Looks like a very interesting find. Has been awhile that I've had my 505 out and about but have been more than pleased with the machine (bought used) and the 4" coil I added to it. Thanks for sharing the picture. Do you have a bit of story (in a yard, park) on where you found it?

Draphty, thats a really cool and very interesting find. I keep trying to figure out what that is on his head.
I would soak that thing in vinegar for about 4 to 5 hours and then take a soft bristle tooth brush to it, if it were mine. But you do what you want.
How deep was that baby and what kinda area were you in,woods, field, old house?

Thanks, Dano.

are you sure thats an indian head dont look right show the back if you can its old for sure great firstgood find ive found alot with my 505 keep diggin:clapping:

Thanks Everyone...Here's the back side.

I gotta agree. With the headdress so worn, it does look like GW's profile. I found this thing where an old school is being torn down. It was only a few inches deep, but I think it was originally located underneath a concrete side walk that has been removed. Me and my buddy that's using a Sharp Shooter II went back Saturday, I found a 1942 Nickel, and he found a...what we think is a rations token from WWII. It rained Sunday here, so haven't been back. Thinking I'll go after work today. Gotta be some more good finds.
