A detector isn't a magic wand. It simply sends a signal into the ground, receives the return signal and analyzes the phase delay. In the case of your 250, each and every target you pass over is sent to one of 12 Target ID segments. On the 705, you have 28 segments, 24 of which are conductivity based, instead of 12 on the Ace. So based solely on TID information and the number of TID "segments", you have a much greater chance of properly identifying targets with the 705 than you do the 250. With that said, IF a bottle cap has the same metallic properties as a "keeper" target, you'll find both being sent to that same segment, regardless of what detector (or coil) you are using. But as others have said, the greater number of audio tones on the 705 will help immensely in identifying those border-line targets. Not to mention the other "settings" on the X-TERRA, that are not available with your Ace 250. Pinpoint sizing, Prospecting mode and finer tunings on Sensitivity and GB, just to name a few.
