New Minelab Commercial

A friend sent me this link earlier today and after watching it a few times and even walking away from it for awhile and coming back to it again, I'm kind of embarrassed for them. I have a pretty good sense of humor and even work in the television production industry but this is lame. Minelab, I love your products but I just don't get it. Even the two girls in bikinis don't really makeup for the other content. Just my opinion. Maybe it's an Australian thing.

So that's what happened to DEVO.... Lol! Not knockin' the bikini chicks though, they know us detectorists are sexy beasts! Hehehe!

Must have bumped his head pretty hard falling in that hole. Just goes to show, we all need to fill those holes back in.:stretcher:

I kinda of get it but wasn't that thrilled ... when he's on the beach and drops down in the hole I guess is showing you how deep it is. then the sounds are the tones from the different metals from his rings, the trampoline is the screen on the CTX and guess the mermaid is saying it's waterproof. I agree could have been a lot better

I think as Minelab users we can all kind of pick up on the different things that they are insinuating in the video but they are really pushing it. If they are trying to drum up new business from someone that might be thinking of getting into detecting someday, you would kind of be left thinking "what the heck am I looking at here, Cirque Du Soleil".

They showed just about every current model from a distance throughout the video with the exception of one close up of the CTX. I don't think anyone could walk away saying "I want to learn more about that E-Trac that I saw in your commercial".

If they are gearing that ad towards us, their existing customer base, it's just sad that they think that's the way to get through to us.

If Richard Simmons ever had a dream about metal detecting I think it went something like that video.

what was ML thinking when they made that video... it's clear that they wasn't. You really have to be in to ML's and MDing to even understand what they was trying to do.

Did anybody ever see ML's first Xterra video???? grade school could of produced a better video then they did

Luckily it's probably a safe bet that their marketing guys aren't designing the technical aspects of their detectors.

I think if they were, for 2014 we'd see rainbow colors in the lineup.

I feel like someone needed to talk to their CEO beforehand like that blackjack dealer did to Chevy Chase in Vegas Vacation.

"Why don't you give me half the money you're going to spend on this video and we'll go out back, I'll kick you in the $&%#, and we'll call it a day!"

There is also a 30 second version of the video on their You Tube channel.

I wonder if they are going to do a super bowl half time show
I'd be afraid of a wardrobe malfunction with one of the guys on the trampolines.

You gotta love the one guy in the behind the scenes video excitedly opening the box saying "Oh! Look at the yellow coil!"

Too bad those rainbow lower shafts aren't ready for release yet. He would be really excited to see one of those.

it's original and aimed towards the younger crowd.

Word!

This is really AWFUL. I can't believe they'd throw money on the ground and burn it in this manner.

Missed the mark entirely. The production value was good but the concept was weak and the delivery of the product to the viewer was poor.
This is NOT how you market Minelab mid-priced products to younger crowds. You can't sell a product to any demographic if you insult all of them.

Your last Minelab commercial was just perfect (not the CTX one).

Seen through a child's eyes? Producers must have taken to many drugs in their youth! :spin:
What a disappointment.
