New minelab owner. First silver find!!

I have had my Explorer II for a couple weeks now. A friend and his brother in law who is a Minelab dealer got together Sunday and went hunting. We hit a park I have never hunted a few blocks from my house. I was hunting behind a set of bleachers and hit a strong 00 29 signal about 6 to 8 inches deep. I figured a quarter. I dug a good sized plug, pulled it out, and pulled out some loose soil in the bottom of the hole. I sifted through the loose soil and saw something silver laying in the dirt. It was a 1902 Barber quarter! I was very excited with my find but before I filled the hole in I swept the coil over the dirt again and got another signal. I sifted through the soil some more and out pops a 1905 Barber half dollar! Two Barbers in one hole! I guess thats what you call beginners luck! :detecting::minelab:

Just wondering, are you near Kansas City area?Always looking for someone to hunt with. Also a 2500 owner, and would like to check out the Explorer. Have you owned any other kind of detector. How do you like the minelab so farl, and how long did it take to learn? Congrats on your finds. Mickey

I hunted an old school and pulled 4 Barber Dimes from one hole along with an Indian Head Cent. Two of the dimes were 1893-O, and 1897-O. congrats on the big silver!

Actually I am about 2 hours west of Kansas City in Junction City. I have had my Explorer 2 weeks and starting to understand it. The first couple times I used it I was thinking I made the wrong decision but I studied the manual and got all the info. on the net I could and now things are coming together. It really is not a very complicated machine at all it is just different from other machines. It is a machine for the more serious hunter I would say.
