New Minelab X-Terra 50 First Impressions in the Field

A little over a week ago I was asked to field test a new detector from Minelab, the X-Terra 50. The idea of testing a new machine sounded great to me so I said
 
Short and sweat......you said...".With the arrows representing APPROXIMATELY 2" give or take"
I understand what the word approximately means but to add the give or take ???
Give or take how much ??? 1/2"... 3/4"...1"...???
Was this the case on both ground and sand ???
