NEW Minelab ????????????

are we due a new minelab ,seems the UK is the place they introduced the SE, at the Minelab rally 12 months ago :minelab:,they have another rally in September, just wondering if they will unvail a new machine .

You can bet a replacement for the se is on the cards for the next year or 2 but i can't see a replacement coming out this year , the se has only been for sale less than a year . I think the next explorer 4 or whatever its called will be a instant top seller.

the excellent rather expensive GPX/GP series which was just updated yet again from the 3500 to 4000...

my vote for the next Minelab update would be the Excalibur. I think it is worthy of an update to a smaller form factor and some tweaking/enhancements.

I'd love to see the next Explorer update use the X-Terra head unit. I am pretty sure it is doable tho the extra battery power required may make the head unit bigger.

I would love to see it have just a few improvements to the Excal, like not having to continually adjust the threshold. It is great just like it is, so my complaint is a very small one. I've made most of my best finds with the Excal and it is all I use (water detecting)during the summer.

Now if they wanted to make a huge improvement, perhaps they could put the Explorer engine in a waterproof package. The Smart screen and a few other things would have to be overcome, but it would be worth it for the better TID alone. A way to exchange coils and a better battery system would be great too.

It actually may just be in the works for a water machine since Fisher is coming back out with a improved CZ20 called the CZ21. If Minelab does come out with a water machine, they better have it right because the Excal already dominates the market and would be difficult to top.

Still, it is difficult, if not impossible, to predict. I don't care who the vendor is or what their product is, they usually surprise us with what we don't expect more than what we expect. So who knows?
