New MXTPRO on the way :)

wolfbane

New member
Hi everyone:)
Name is Dave and i live in the Maritimes:)

I have read and read till my eyes have bled lol
and i was set on a V3I machine but as i read these forums, I relized buying the biggest on the block isn't really a smart thing to do for a person that has never touched a detector.

That being said i searched the for sale forums and such and came to relize that a new ,warrenty machine would be the best . and after many many hours i chose the Mxtpro from all of your reccomendations here :)

Sooo by this friday i should have this in my greedy coin , ring searching sweaty fingers lol

I just want to thank all of you for all of your kindness and thoughts in a hobby i feel i am going to just really love and have fun with :)

i look forward to taking the pics of all my pull tabs lol and yes rings etc etc when i get them , not if !! but when in IMHO

Congrats on the new detector , your going to love it . The MXT is a great machine and can run with the big boys .

Dave,
You gonna really love that MXT-Pro. The tone IDs are great. Not that big of a learning curve IMHO. You made a good choice and looking forward to seeing some of your posts. Would suggest you reading the MXT Edge by Jeff Foster. Good book to give you the ins and outs of the MXT along with lots of useful info. I'm new to the hobby and I'm loving my Pro. Locating lots of good finds. CCH

thanks guys :)
i love to learn things :)
CCH hbow do you like the DX-1 i am gonna have to save for a pin pointer and was thinking of that one:)

DX-1 is worth every penny - "There is no substitute" IMHO. Cut my digging time down drastically. Cant lose it since its attached to the MD. Uses the MD batteries. Its an in- line probe and therefore give readouts like the coil does - VDIs, confidence bars, depth etc. Great depth for a probe too. It does add a little bit of weight to the detector but you cant beat it IMHO. CCH

You can't go wrong with the MXT and the DX-1 pinpointer. I wouldn't be without mine! Congrats on your new machine and keep us posted! HH, Nancy

Hey guys thanks for all the encouragement!!!!

yea right now i don't have anything but the mxt pro and some free vance headphones coming(thankyou jeff for the headphones) so it will be interesting on how ii am gonna find the item once i dig the plug!!!

Any ideas on that ?

man i am going crazy waiting for it to arrive lol
but again the heat here in the maritimes is killer right now ! so might be good i have to wait another day or so :)

If this is your first detector, I'd recommend setting the machine at the defaults as per the manual, practice pinpointing a bit with some coins placed on a metal free spot on your lawn or backyard. You'll probably try detecting your own yard, but I'd also suggest going to some playgrounds or the dry sand areas if you are near a beach and get used to what VDI#'s and sounds are for real life targets. This will also make for easy digging as you learn how to pinpoint.

Are you Canadian, btw? If so, I can give you a few common VDI#'s to give you a headstart.

hey good to meet you :)
Actually i am an American living in canada now for the last 5 years :)

originnally from Indianapolis Indiana:)

So yeppers i need all the Canadian vdi numbers etc etc i can get :)
lol like i said i have yet to even touch a detector so i am hoping tommarrow it will be in the post office waiting on me:)

Okay, here's some common VDI numbers for both trash and Canadian coins. Some of these numbers may vary depending on how dry or wet the ground is, amount of mineralization, salt, etc. But shouldn't vary by more than a couple of numbers either way.

Be aware, that gold jewelry falls anywhere between -10 for the tiny earing or chain clasps to +50 and up for the larger rings, pendants. It all depend on size, shape, composistion, mass. But most average gold jewelry falls between 20 and 50.

0 is almost always thin or single sheet of foil.
2-16 usually wads of foil or aluminum canslaw or pieces of siding.
18 solid lock is very often an older nickel

I absolutely love my MXT Pro. I have found it to really hit hard on small jewelry! I have added many small ear rings and thin bands to my collection with this machine.
