New Nokta Gold Kruzer, customized

So, I made some changes to the Kruzer
Have not used it yet, but it is ready

New to the forum and first posting

I purchased the Kruzer to use in the creeks that are very mineralized in the southern mother lode area, even the slate/shist bedrock constantly sets off my Gold Finder 2000. I could use my Garrett Axiom but high frequency VLF's are so much easier, especially with discrimination and target ID,
Unfortunately, it has been 100 + degrees for the last few weeks, so just waiting for a break in the weather

Arm cuff: moved it up one screw hole, cut the top approx. one inch, used a heat gun to narrow the cuff to (snap on my arm) and installed grip tape
added stand
Rods: I cut the upper rod down 10 inches to utilized more of the lower carbon fiber rod (The cam locks are easy to take off on the Nokta). also shortened the handle rod behind the arm cuff
Search Coil: filled in all the gaps on the sides of the coil connector fins that always fill in with dirt and painted the top or the coil with an enamel hammered dark silver. added grip tape to circle logo for use with the plastic spoon


Also included a photo of my battle worn Nokta Gold Finder 2000, this machine has paid for itself 12 times over using it in a historic mine dump

I ended up putting the Kruzer on a XP detector platform that has telescopic capabilities and is lighter, more comfortable, balanced and easier to use

Sweet mods on the GK!

I don't see much posted on the Gold Finder 2000 -- how does it compare to the GK and other gold-specifc VLFs?

For whatever reasons the Nokta Gold Finder 2K did not get the hype like the Gold Monster 1K did, and it was discontinued by Nokta.
I wanted a turn on and go detector and that is what the Gold Finder is, no adjustments except the sensitivity and volume, very high frequency and does not make any noise until it detects a target unlike the Gold Monster 1K and half the price. I run it on general all metal mode and ignore the iron targets with the LCD graph telling me it is ferrous, Specimens do jump back and forth so I dig all the jumpers especially in mine dumps. It has done me will with over 1.3 ounces of gold found with it so far using it at mine tailings dump piles. The two specimens in the picture to the left were found with it.
The only problem it has (Same as the Gold Monster) is mineralized ground and bedrock; I can't use it in any of the creeks here in the southern mother lode.

Interesting.

I like the Gold Kruzer quite a bit, but I don't get much of a chance to swing it over gold-bearing ground. I've tested it out on a few small pickers I've panned and it hits those just fine. Bedrock in the gold-bearing creek in my is shale and sandstone, so pretty mild mineralization. A sign of a good spot to sample will be 3-4 bars of mineralization and a ground balance value of 70+ on GK.

Any tips you care to share on using the machine for detecting in creeks?
