New old find....

My wife put a box under our bed of a bunch of old metal detecting finds that I had accumulated over the years. I didn't even know about it. Its been fun going through a bunch of these cool old odd ball finds.
Anyway, I see this cool heart shaped heel plate that when I found it I remember someone on this forum years back said it was civil war era. So today I do a search on it and find more than one search coming up stating
that these heel plates were worn by "ladies of the evening" in civil war camps and left the heart shape in the dirt so soldiers could follow it back to the ladies residence. How true do you think this is? It is a small heel plate and
looks like it would fit more for a women shoe. Anyone know the truth about these? Thank

I don't know but it sure is neat! It doesn't look like it is too worn down but then again, probably most of those ladies of the night were laying down more than they were walking. LOL
