New Scoop Is Here And It's PERFECT

Mike,

I actully bought one as my first scoop and I L O V E IT. I did call email him to as if he could make a 6inch wide scoop but he said not at this tike. It is so strong that you could not ask for anything better.Maybe a little wider in diameter, but nonetheless, it paid for itself.

Well, it's wider and bigger than the one I've been using and the one I've been using has dug me MANY a ring, so to me it's just right. I have one of the big monster scoops and can't stand it. Make you a good deal on it...

Hello,

I too have the old model. It's a good scoop but it has a weakness: when you push the scoop in the sand, the "half round" mouth pushes the sand on the sides of the scoop and the targer moves away. So sometimes you have to dig the target several times. It is a little bit too surgical in my opinion. Someone told me that the creator of this design intended to have it used to dig small amounts of sand instead of a big pull of sand all at once.
This works good for shallow targets but for deeper ones it has not enought diggin power, the hole keeps closing itself before you can get to the target.
Mike's one has a "full round" mouth and that should help centering the target; they also reinforced the bottom because the old one did bend on heavy foot pushing.
One point in favor of these scoops is that the are good nail catchers and this is good news for PI users.

My opinion is that a 6", shovel shaped, mouth should help for a faster target recovery like, maybe, the one in the picture below.

Cheers

My scoop...

What kind of a deal?? If you want to email me at

garyabramslaw@yahoo.com Let me know what your asking. Kind of like the big scoops but definately keeping (mine) the same one you purchased. It is super strong. It is my back up scoop. Taking it with me to PR. By the way, got my first gold with Excal (actually hit 2 gold). Found a nice 10K with beautiful heart shapped CZ. My heart lunged out when I first saw it in the scoop. 20 minutes later and BAM!
Nice 14kt (about 10grams) solid mens ring. Have not posted on here yet but will shortly. Learning the machine (Excal 1000) and really loving it. My woman is now a beleiver that we can find the loot. Let me know how much$$$$$$$.

That's great...congrats on that...glad to hear it. I knew it wouldn't be long.

As for the scoop, it's the one on top right here:

It's the "6061 Aluminum One Piece Sand Scoop" 46" Overall , 6-Inch Wide Bucket. KellyCo sells it for $114. It's in mint condition. I would let it go to you for $75 + $15 shipping. I guess that should cover it. I'll need to find a box for it though...too big to use the box my new scoop came in. Let me know if you're interested.

I can let you know by tomorrow night. Trying to figure out how to get it on the plane for PR. I just found a monster crack in my large scoop, not the one that is similar to your new one.

Looks like a great scoop.

Mike,

I appreciate the offer, but I did decide to go with another one like you and I have already but the two piece gig instead. Went to a machine shop today to fix my large heavy duty scoop. Cost about $40.00 but the guy has been a machinest for over 30 years and he is making my scoop much stronger. I will ask a good friend of mine if he is interested at the same price you quoted me if thats ok with you?????? Let me know!

Gary

I have been checking Ebay haven't seen anymore of the scoops. Do you still like yours? Do you have any contact information or website for him?

Thanks,

Yeah, it's a great scoop, for sure. Have dug many a good find with it now.

The guy's eBay ID is detector_items, but as far as I can tell he hasn't sold any detector items in a while. Last I looked he was selling slot cars or something like that. I think he was having the scoops made for him or made to his specs. You can try asking him.
