New season of Diggers is on

Seems they try and make "reality shows" about anything these days and when people that are not professional actors try and act they just come off looking stupid, that's why american chopper and deadliest catch lasted so, they were not trying to act.
Meteorite man was not bad though but honey boo boo and toddlers and tiaras oh man gimme a break!

What is sad is that my friends and family have asked me if I act like those clowns when I hunt. Great notion to put a show on about MD'ing but the reality of it really bombed; and to think that National Geographic is behind this

I watched for the first time last night and I was amused at the childishness of the participants. Good actors they are not!

I don't think I will be spending much time watching any more, I have better things to do with my time!

I think they're hilarious and they give their finds to the land owners........Better than most of the detecting videos I've seen. My son makes fun of the Fischer video I have, the NASA guy puts you to sleep!! Juice in the hole baby!!!

Diggers is good for the hobby, the way those dufuses swing there coil new people buying a detector won't find much...more for us!

Big deal ... it's a stupid show (they both are, but one is dumber than a box of rocks. And anyone who knows this and watches and believes it's a great show needs a new hobby . What we enjoy is a hobby and not a business , the businesses are our sponsors and most of the products they sell so maybe they would have a larger voice is they joined in with us or rather us who believe this show hurts us and doesn't help our hobby . The Savage's have a salvage/recovery business backed by very large corporate sponsors that include a few detector manufactures in the mix . They only real chance they'll pull it is if 1000's of us protested by signing petitions and presenting them in person to those manufactures and boycott them but NOT buying there products ... and then we'll hurt our sponsors but that's the only way . And there's big fat chance that's not going to ever happen because know one really cares and has become complacent . And the "other" show isn't as bad but is a close second .
Just MHO ... Happy Trails

I wish I could be as serious as most of you guys about this hobby. With all thats happening in the world all you have to do is worry about how two shows are making you look bad because they are too Hollywood. I think just the opposite. I use their slang around the house to annoy my wife so that is one benifit I see. I also spend my time answering questions from the good citizens of my community that "have seen a show about metal detecting" and see that we are pretty harmless instead of the stereotype most have about us. How can it harm us to have people educate themselves about our hobby and jump into it themselves? It should cause more innovation is products as the demand become higher for detectors and related equipment. I have seen this happen with my other hobby of recreational prospecting. Equipment is getting cheaper, more readily available and I attribute it to "those shows" with the goofball Hoffman

I "educate" people too, but the problem is that the shows paint us all to be morons like that. I've had property owners turn down my requests for permission to hunt, all because of those shows.

If they get their "self education" from those shows, they stand to do us all more harm than good. Lunatics without a clue, digging up the landscape and making huge messes chasing fantacy fortunes only serve to get us all banned from sites that normal responsible detectorists may have had an opportunity to hunt.

I don't! Can you think of one thing electronic that hasn't gotten smaller and cheaper in the last 50+ years? Television and entertainment do nothing to drive innovation.

You should lighten up and go look for some roundness in the hole or some civ nectar!!!
I don't think so. As a matter of fact, the first time I find myself in the company of someone that even starts that sort of mindless psycho-babble....will be the last time. I don't go out of my way to bash those shows, but I refuse to support them in any way. Lame hasn't replaced humor in my world at any level.

JMO, and worth at least what you paid for it.
