New SEF 10 x 12 Coil popped out BIG SILVER on her 4 hour maiden voyage:bouncy:

That figure 8 coil design is used on other detectors to help lesson the effects of EMI, curious as to whether it's helping you run a little hotter than normal in town or not. I ordered the 10x12 and the 12x15 and am sitting waiting on the UPS guy at this very moment. I thought SEF also came in a smaller than 10 x12 version but Kellyco doesn't have it, JW, correct me if I am wrong cause I wanted the smaller one too.:thumbup:
 
the 10 x 12 SEF can be run hotter if you want your ears blown off with signals:thumbup:. It's a hot coil...hits like my 6" excelerator...hard and fast...and separates unbelievably well.
 
Congrats on the great coins...Lookinfg forward to more results w/ that new fangled coil. I may need to add one to my arsenal....Or maybe I should hock my EXII for a new SE....

we can do some testing side by side...my sef 10 x 12...and his minelab pro coil....if and when they arrive.:detecting:
 
It hits so danged hard...like a small coil. It's a barrage of signals...just like a small coil gives because of the great separation.

a deep silver coin killer:clapping: I can run my sensitivity at whatever I want because it's ROCK solid stable. It is not any heavier than the 1050 coil to me...and really sings loud and clear over deep silver. I don't have much time on it yet...but it has already hit a wheatie for me at 10" amidst trash. I hear a LOT more signals with this coil. Is it falsing?...absolutely NOT,,,it just separates incredibly well for a big coil so I hear a lot more clear precise signals instead of blended gibberish. This definately makes it easier for me to decide whether or not to dig. It's an awesome coil and I now just need to find a little more hunt time.
 
Bryce,your scan doesn't do this coin any justice, when i seen this coin for the first time last week i thought you had been down detecting at the first state bank threw the vault window again. :rofl: seriously in my 30years of detecting i have found lots of these but none even close to that condition, that is another awesome find buddy. :yo:
 
someone emailed me a few hours ago and said it was worth quite a hefty price to JD collectors. I then washed off the back and sure enough...It says JohnDeer. I was so excited with the sweet walker...that I just set the pin aside thinking it was a reindeer Christmas pin of some kind:rofl:
I'm going to clean it up a little and see what it looks like. He told me it was quite rare to find one with the pin still intact the way it is.
I found it down around 9" and it had a pulltab about 2" away from it. I was amazed that the SEF coil separated it from the tab. I got a quick tab signal...then a higher lincoln cent type of hit...so I assume the pin is made of copper. Anyway...thanks for the info buddy. It's kind of like that B&O railroad baggage tag I found a few weeks ago. I had no idea what it was until my friend pointed it out to me. Good luck on your next hunt.

Pretty impressive haul! Do you think you have gone over these items before ith the other coils and mssed them? What coils did you use there in the past? Also what is that token you found and the little round thing with what looks like a squirrel on it?

still there because they were very close to trash....but for me...this coil separates well and has given me both signals...the trash one...then the coin hit. Another reason is probably because of electical interference in spots. This is a rock steady coil for me and handles interference so far probably better than any other coil I have. I have 2 or 3 sites that just make my SE unstable...but I was able to hunt them better with this coil...so that is a definate plus for me. My 10 x 14 does well at some of these sites too...but it gets heavy to me after a while.
As for the token....it looks to be a pool hall token of some kind. The "little round thing" is a cub scouts Bobcat pin which is pretty neat.

Bryce, thanks for the reviews. I'm considering getting another coil to go with my EXII stock, and the WOT. Which would you suggest, the SEF 10x12 , or the Minelab Pro ( that's the 11", right ? ) I hunt mainly old lawns here in central Fla.
 
I did very well in trashy parks with the big 15" WOT coil which truthfully surprised me since I thought it was mostly for open areas...fields...etc...WRONG.

The WOT coil can be a killer even in smaller parks.

For an everyday coil though...honestly...I would go with either the SEF coil or the minelab pro coil.

Here's a a bit of a tip and what I found here in my IL soil. When comparing the pro coil and SEF coils side by side....for me the 10 x 12 SEF coil hit harder on deep coins...locked on better...ID'd better at depth...was more stable...and I could run it hotter.

All that being said...I found some very nice coins with the pro coil...still do...but the 10 x 12 SEF coil is the coil I use 99% of the time for an everyday coil.

For some reason...it also loves injuns...and just seems to find 'em.

One thing I disliked about the pro coil is the fact that I seemed to dig quite a few "ghost holes" with it. I mean it would be a perfect signal...repeat all the way around the hole...etc. When I dug the hole however...nothing there.:stars:
It happened so often in fact that I just stopped using it.

I don't have that problem with any other coil...and it hardly ever happens with the 10 x 12 SEF coil.

The one advantage the pro coil has is it's weight.,.or lack thereof...it's LIGHT. That is a definite plus for a coil that is as good as it is. I found some very deep silver dimes on edge with it...so don't get me wrong..it's a great coil and I do use it some.

Seriously either coil is a winner

Nice finds, especially that half! Walkers are beautiful coins, for sure. Plus, ANY big silver looks really good comin' out of the ground. . .
