New spot showing promise. F75 LTD2 DST

Been working a hugh new spot that my hunting buddy got wind of and while not tons of silver coming from it, it is giving of a piece here and there.

I got 2 Mercs this morning and 3 silver dimes one outing last week using my Omega and a single 63 Rosie with my 75 on another. My hunting buddy has scored silver on it and so has a fellow club member. It seems to be of the age when silver was no longer being made, but within the range of some still being carried and lost. We all wish it was a little older, but it is what it is. HH jim tn

That's a good percentage of silver verses clad in my book Jim, definitely worth some more time in this new place. Like we talked about before the silver is getting less and less as time goes on.

Working it maybe will produce more great recoveries for you. Good Luck.

Thanks everyone. Did snag a silver Rosie on a short hunt this morning along with 5 wheats and some clad. Lotta ground yet to cover, although a good bit of it is un-productive. Seems like there should be some jewelry in there, but no silver or gold thus far. Good luck to everyone. HH jim tn

Definitely some potential there! Just a matter of time before you pull a ring or three

Jim, judging by the amount of silver you've found, I'd guess that your site dates back to at least a couple years before the end of silver coin production.

You very well could be right marcomo. We've got it pretty much narrowed down to early to mid 60's. Now just to find that tobacco can of 64 Kennedy halves. LOL HH jim tn

The right spot dating back to the early 60's could easily have that much silver. And those high mintage late Mercs stuck around until almost the end of silver. I would guess it was around 64-65 and I remember pulling them out of circulation for my Whitman blue folder. But a few years later when I was searching rolls for silver dimes I don't remember ever finding any.

Hope you find that can of Kennedys, Jim. You could, a lot of folks squirreled away every one they could get their hands on.

Yeah, finding coins for my coin collection is actually what got me started in detecting back in 1972. Wasn't finding much in coin rolls anymore and saw a Treasure magazine at a hobby shop and these guys had handfuls of silver, wheats and I H's. The lure got me and still does and I don't even collect coins anymore. HH jim tn
