New T2 (need some help please):look:

After selling my Whites MD I thought about buying a minelab but got a T2 and I love it the pin pointing is great.I went over the same spots with the T2 and pulled out clad that my Whites missed. So today I took my T2 out on a quick hunt and I have some questions.

1. Does the sen affect depth( The T2 got chatty I had to put the sen down to 10)
2. Is the Quick Grab the same as ground bal.
3. When I am in All Metal can I use the Quick grab # as my Ground Bal
4. I hunted in Disc and notched out iron and rocks but the Id screen give me a reading of 92 every time I would go over a rock.

Thank you,
BrownBear

1. Sens. does affect depth. However often the T2 quiets down when the coil is sweeping ground. Try seeing if the T2 quiets down when it's coil is over clear ground.
2. Quick Grab is ground balancing. Using quick grab allows the T2 to automatically balance the detector for you.
3. Quick Grab works for both Disc. and All Metal modes. You can also manually set the ground balance from the All Metal Mode. This also carries over to Disc.
4. Some rocks are difficult to get rid of. Were you properly ground balanced?

I have the answer for you, but you need to do several more posts here on FindMall to be eligible to receive PM's, so I can send you a private email. The info I have for you is too long for me to type here.

Welcome to the Teknetics Forum, to the world of Teknetics, and I'm curious which White's model you used before as well as search coil? That's good to know when you're doing comparisons or analyzing a poster's comments. As for the Pinpointing, I like the T2, other Teknetics models, but I've never had a problem with the White's models that I like.

We can always find stuff when we re-hunt a site with a new detector. However, the fact is that we could usually still find targets using the same model as before because our approach might be different or the coil is swept directly across the target. It's great that you are successful, but I've always considered this point of 'success' to be a bit overstated. It's common, however, and even some of the more avid detectorists feel similar success from time to time.

Naturally, know what you used before, as well as which search coil and the settings, can make a big difference. Oh, one 'favor' some of us appreciate knowing is what coil is used and what the Ground Phase read-out is, the Discriminate setting, Sensitivity level, and Tone ID choices when you add comments in the future about find and success you have. Just a thought. Thanks!

Drastic reductions can be noted to impact depth of detection, yes. Usually, minor tweaks aren't too bad. Dropping the T2 Sensitivity down to '10' would be considered 'drastic' in my book! I very seldom have to reduce the T2's Sensitivity much below the factory default of '60' and most of the time I can get it up in the '75' to '85' range. If you are very close to power lines or school buildings or other businesses and power sources, you might need to reduce the Sensitivity a little.

Make sure you adjust that setting with the search coil positioned close to the ground and not help up in the air. Also, as mentioned below, some minor chatter can be eliminated when sweeping the search coil because it's busy dealing with the ground signal.

Fast Grab, also called Ground Grab on other Teknetics' models, is simply an automated Ground balance achieved when briskly bobbing the search coil from 6"-8" down to about

Thank You Guys,

Wow that answered my questions, I am finding out that the T2 is a simple MD to set up and run. I was using a white classic ID. The whites was good, but I knew it was time for an upgrade. The site that I am hunting is a gold mine test pit,but it looks like they dug rocks out from there or placed rocks from another pit to this area. The T2@ sen 80 disc 40 and tone 2+ was able to pick out some shotgun shells and other targets in the mix of all the rocks. The problem I had with the T2 being chatty, I was Mding a friends front yard and the target read out just went crazy. I dropped the sen down to 10 and pulled a nickle from about 5-6inches.( I love the pointing,I am guessing that little circle spot on the coil is the sweet spot) The Md ran great after I dropped the sen down, My buddy told me that the red clay in Ga will screw up a Md hot second so you have to always check your GB. Also from what I been reading the T2 is a very very sen MD and is great for trashy sites and thats good becuase my hunt will be at a trashy park.

Ps.. I did that the Fe meter will change if the target is junk ie.. BCs and pull tabs is that true

Thank you all,
BrownBear
