Just got it today, tried it at a trashy park and everything seems to work allright, buried a couple of coins and stock coil seems to go plenty deep, what kind of depth are you getting with the small coil had trouble hitting a 5'' buried dime in 4 tones, anyway it going to take sometime getting used to this beast, not used to manual ground balance, used to minelab explorer with auto balance, anyway going to a old 1800's mill tomorrow that's a carpet of nails and junk, what would you experts recommend for settings. Thanks explorerjim

No expert here I usually start out low in disc 21(mainly a coin shooter ), if ear fatigued turn up too 41, sensitivity 90's, 2+ tones , in the 2+ tone if audio zips it's a shallow target. The fast grab GB is easy, push toggle forward and pump coil, my ground balance's out around 60. If I have trouble finding a clean spot to GB I watch for the numbers to fall in the 20's and GB right there? Hope that helps its a awesome unit! HH PS I used to only hunt in 1 or 4 tone but have done a flip-flop and enjoy the 2+ now!!!

Are you using the SE model or standard one? AS you seem to have the small coil that came with the unit I ake it that you have the SE ? if its the 5 " coil sell it !! its ok but the NEL Sharpshooter is far far better for depth and target separation.
Settings Sens 60 Disc 35 will give you a quieter time from chatter and you will not loose the small stuff. Tones if yours is the standard then use 2+ is the easy option. Using 1 is fine but you must watch the numbers all the time as its nearly all metal searching. Below 35 on the numbers leave it =trash Once set use the grab ballance push the trigger forward and pump the coil to the ground until quiet then off you go. If you have the SE then once you have the Sens and Disc set go to boost but not cache mode but the one below that gives a much sharper signal and goes that much deeper.Search slow and close to the ground. I see so many detectorists that seem to be searching for low flying planes ! keep the coil flat to the ground throughout the sweep do not allow the coil to rise at the end on the sweep or you will loose targets..I search in the UK so my finds are different to the USA

Hello everyone,

My name is Clem, I live in northwestern Michigan (LP), and I just joined this site/forum today. I noticed the last entries on this forum are dated but I'm going to post anyway. I am fairly new to the hobby as well and have only used a White's coinmaster classic II until I recently bought a green T2 for $300 with a pointer, stereo headphones w volume control, manual and bag (off craigslist). It has the stock 11'' DD coil and I am having quite a time learning to pinpoint. I don't like the way the brush catches in the coils open spots. I was wondering if anyone who has lots of experience with the smaller 5'' coil or the new 5'' x 10'' DD solid coil could give me some advice before I purchase one of those. I would also like to know if there are other good coils that are compatible and maybe cheaper. Do other coils need to be designed to use 13khz to work with the T2? Thanks a lot for any advice while I learn. :please:
