Hello I am new to the forum but have been reading all of your posts for weeks. I have a new Garrett ACE 250 and live in Virginia Beach. I have had the detector for about a month and have had pretty good luck finding change and a couple of rings so far. One thing I have had a question about is scanning the wet sand with the ACE and wondering if it is truly ok to scan under water with the ACE as it is. Thanks and I am really looking forward to picking some brains and learning from the pros here! :beers:

First off welcome to the forum. I use an Ace 250 as well. As long as you don't get the control housing wet you are good to go. Might want to invest in the bigger coil for the beach as you can cover more area and pinpointing isn't as critical in the sand.

My understanding of the 250 is that salt water gives it the heebie-jeebies. (Lack of a manual ground balance) I don't own one myself, so might be corrected. (My GTA 1000PM doesn't seem to mind, though, and it doesn't have a manual GB either.)

Welcome to the Garrett fraternity of metal detector users. Please post your finds. And, there have been several of us who have converted the ACE models into water machines. They worked GREAT!

Come on shawn, it aint that hot. I went this morning and hit a little over 4.00 in clad. have to go early or late tho.
 
Hello All,

I am new to the forum and am trying to find the best gold panning locations. I am thinking of going to either California or Oregon. Does anyone have any suggestions?
