New to Garrett, thought I'd say hello.......

Just picked myself up an ACE250 this weekend. Although I'm not new to metal detecting I am new to Garrett detectors. I must say this thing sure seems to be packed with a lot of features. I also see I have a lot of older posts to read up on for all of the hints and tips on this model. Now if the snow ever melts and ground thaws.................

Thanks Ranger. Hopefully I will be able to get out soon and get some stick time in with the Ace. If the temps hold steady here the rest of the week I might be able to hit a tot lot or two to give it a test drive.

Now about your detector :))
Your going to love the Ace 250.
Once you learn it with its little quirks you'll be happy every time you go out.
Been though a lot of detector in the last seven year.
Picked up the Ace 4 years ago for a back up and still enjoy it;
Sometimes it's a toss of a coin on which detector to take. Believe me it'll never let you down.
If you ever get the chance to pick up a Excelerator 10 x 14 DD from Kellyco buy it.

Welcome Jazzman58 and happy hunting with your Ace-250. I kind of wish I had started out with the Ace- 250 instead of the Gti-2500 for a first detector. Too much detector for a newbie like me. Took me a couple years, but I understand it now. I did find what could be my first musket ball, but I have to clean it up and see what I got. Good luck and I hope the weather gets better soon. I tried getting out during some cold weather and the ground was too hard for me to dig in. But, I don't live where it snows but once or twice every 10-20 years. Unless it's in the first few inches, it's very difficult when it's in the low 20's to 32 degrees. I found out the hard way that you need water proof knee pads if you get out during wet weather or snow. Unless you're one of these people who can stand up and dig a target and never have to kneel down and dig. Lots of good advice in this forum and some of the other forums . There are a lot of books and videos out there, but you're already an experienced metal detectorist and are probably familiar with that.
 
Once again, thanks to all for your words of encouragement. I am looking forward to a good season of detecting once I learn the how use the 250. WTG Fongu on the musket ball find. Can't wait to see the pics on that. My personal favorite find to date was an old hitching ring that I found on my in-laws farm with my old BH. I can't wait to get the 250 out there and see what else I can find, once the ground thaws.
