New to GPS, Longtime Metal Detectorist

Well, I finally made the move. I found a ghost town I want to detect, and I couldn't get there without one, so I purchased an entry level Garmin eTrex. It should do the job. Any new user advice is appreciated!
 
Just one but an important one:

GPS is a tool. It's not a replacement for skill so, learn to use it well but keep a compass and a map with you.
