New to Minelab..e-trac settings????????

any recommendations on how and what to start with. Have read and watched a lot o fvideos. The coin mode probably. what about other settings. I usually hunt with a cz and listen to everything including iron tones...thaks ion advance...How about all metal????? Coin hunting with it

You can't hunt that way you did with the CZ. You have no choice except to reject iron with an E-Trac. Minelab chose to play a little trick on us and give iron, copper pennies, dimes , and quarters the same high tone if you use the default conductive audio mode and hunt with an open screen. The only way to get around this dilemma is to discriminate out iron or switch to Ferrous Audio which isn't very good on the E-Trac.

I'm not much into messing with anything until I really understand it and I have only had mine about a week but I have just been using the coin mode without touching anything and been digging stuff in the 7 to 9 inch range. I learned the hard way on a DFX and XLT that for me simple is better until I really figure out what everything does. Been following up now places that I thought I pounded and cleaned and I have been very impressed just setting it to coin and having fun.

I had a play with what i wanted to knock out, and what i wanted left in, and when i had finished i was left with the original Minelab coin programe. So i think that Minelab have it pretty well sorted out, and you just play with the Sensitivity. I'm happy with that, as i have found $270 in 3 weeks since i got it. Bob

using exchange as well

jason, i did finally get a really small screen, that looks like the bottom right corner had some discrimination in it - Yes ??

but could never acutally load it or see full size

Here's how I set mine up .First I run in coin mode then I edited out the top right little bar sens in auto +3 deep on sizing pinpoint gain 21 variability 25 I have found that nails pinpoint to the right and down and if I check them on 90 degrees they will break up only have dug a couple and I guessed it was a nail most of the time when I did but do get fooled once in awhile also I switch back and forth to manual sens as coins come in better in manual also use quick mask often and will switch to quick mask when using the X-1 Hunting in auto is the way to go with this MD so far having this detector for 37 day days I have found 22 silver coins 2 buffs 1 v nickel 4 war nickels 1 gold ring 1872 forien coin

I need to see if someone out there has a really outstanding pattern setting for high trash area city park?????

Thanks!!!

ok sonny i think you ought to go to the relic pattern which works the etrac in the ferrous mode dig high tones ignore the grunts job done no complications go out and enjoy digging all those finds this way all your good finds under the 17 line are worth digging could be abit of silver paper and a few bottle tops cans but we all expect those happy hunting post if you want any advice it is such a great progame to use
