The Fisher Impulse is a PI detector mainly designed for diving. It is used successfully on the salt beach's also.
I am the US supplier of the Goldquest SS, and can be reached at www.surfscanner.com

I believe they have discontinued that detector. Was never known for depth, would suggest other mfgers models.

Hi Joe,
Although it fits the Pulse Induction category of detectors, it is unusual in the the coil current waveform is triangular with about equal on and off rates. Also the pulses are both positive and negative going. Part of the design is an energy recovery circuit that returns the coil energy back to the power supply. This makes for a very low current consumption.
Eric.
