This year I am a new Safari user and I thought I would give my two cents on this detector. I have been detecting since I was 12 years old that was 37 years ago. I started out with a Radio Shack build yourself detector moved on to a couple Whites including a 6000 DI Pro the after that died a Fisher F5 which I was not very happy with. With most other detector if it makes a sound you dig, not with the Safari. For me the Safari give you a lot of information in the sounds it makes. You can tell the shape of the object by the sound, coins and rings will give a good tone and the ID will stay the same. If its a awful sound its most likely junk and the ID will jump around. That is why a button will sound like a good target because the shape is smooth and that is what the Safari is telling you.
That is why you can set you discrimination low, 0 to -10 discriminated out, then just listen for a good sounding tone. Foil will sound broken up and ID jumping around that is the Safari telling you its an odd shaped target so pass it by. After you learn that will be able to pass up the junk and dig good targets.
Hopefully I will be able to post my good finds since I have been out 10 times this year. I have found 6 Mercury Dimes, 4 Barber Dimes (have never found any of these before), one Washington Quarter, and a Walking Liberty Quarter (have never found one of these either).
At first I had a lot of junk but that has really reduced since I have learned to listen to what the Safari is telling me.
So listen for a good sounding tone with stable ID then dig it!!!!!!
