New to the E-Trac

FAL guy

New member
I just picked up an E-Trac and joined up here to learn more about the machine. I've been detecting since Christmas with an F2. I love the F2 and it will surely remain my totlot killer, but I want to nail some silver!!

Give the E-trac some time and you will love it. It is a silver killer.

Hey FAL guy! Good to see you picked up an E-Trac. The best advice I can give is to read the owners manual a couple times. Get the Andy Sabich book and read it several times. Give yourself at least 20-30 hours to become familiar with it. Give yourself at least 100 hours to really start to learn it.

I'm PMing you my info. If you have any questions, any at all feel free to contact me.
edit- Well, crap. I can't send you PMs yet. I can't remember what other forum you are on. Shoot me a PM over there (I use the same name) and I'll get you my info.

Welcome to the E-Trac world.

The E-Trac can and does make a good tot lot detector as well, you just need to play with the settings so it can be used at those type of places.

I've had mine since November 2011, and love it. I've found lots of good things with it too.

It's also a good at finding clad if your looking for gas money.

Welcome !!!!!

I read the manual at least 5 times before I got the detector. :surprised: .I need to Andys book for sure. Ill shoot you a PM on the other site. Thanks for the help.

I went out with the detector for the first time yesterday. I hit a park in a part of town known to have been active in very early 1900s. While I managed $2.92 in clad, along with a cheapo ID bracelet, I didn't net any silver coinage. I was using buckeyehunter's mode which is opened up for nickels and dollars. It seemed to work well from what my inexperience could tell.

One issue I had, I had to crank the Volume Limit way down to be able to tolerate the high volume of tones I was getting in the stock earphones. I know this limits the difference between large and small or shallow and deep targets, but what else does it do?

Most parks are very heavily hunted. They still have silver hiding in them, but it's not always easy.

As for the volume problem, I recommend a pair of Sunray or Killer Bee headphones.
