My first thought is coral of some sort. If it fizzes with dilute hydrochloric acid, it is limestone. However, since people post rock and metal detecting finds here, I need to ask an obvious question - was it found with a detector?

Looks like melted aluminum, anywhere people build camp fires you will find that stuff, it is the bane of many a beach detectorist who dig it up all the time. That's what it looks like anyway. : )
