New user question

Just got the ForesCore. I am a very experienced detectorist. I got out several items to test VDI on this morning. A large gold ring kept ringing up at 82/84. That seems odd to me. I took the machine out and am very impressed so far. The gold thing makes me ask why?

Large gold rings (bands) have always ID'd in the penny range on 2 other detectors I own that is why I do not pass on the penny ID. Haven't found one with the CoRe but I'm guessing it's no different; size and amount of metal vs type of metal. On the other hand the smaller gold rings always ID in the typical foil / gold range.

The CoRe tends to "lump" some targets in to the 82/84 range. If the #s don't jump- dig it. I've found if you get the 82/84 range and as you circle the target the #s quickly bounce down to lower #s then back up to 82/84 the target is,most often, a steel bottle cap. It's actually a neat quirk as it is a great way to I.D. bottle caps. But, the CoRe does tend to "lump" in to that range.
