Hi all
I have decided to take up this great hobby and spent bloody weeks trying to decide which detector to buy ? I narrowed it down to either a DFX from whites or the Quattro after chatting to peter naish at my nearest detector shop (what a great bloke by the way )then i got a Crawford's catalogue and they have a score chart on most of the current models, guess what won out of these two ? yes you got it the quattro buy about 15%..I cant afford a new one not for a new hobby but I also don't want to be up grading in 6 months either so I will be getting a 2nd hand quattro in good condition for about

The beach is a great place to start using the Quattro, and sand detecting is relatively easy. You just have to learn to deal with all the trash: pull tabs, cans, crown caps, etc! When I first started, there was no end of help, and I think you'll find the same!

Dear mskeng. Pleas let us know how it goes in the near future. I'd love to hear how the Quatro or any other detector is working out for you. Please get back on the forum here, and let us know how it's going. I thin you'll love the Quatro, if you get it. I'ts hard to beat. Marc.

Hi all! I finally got my Quattro working again (power circuit and some other buttons fixed) and I am extremely happy. I have done a little hunting but don't have any silver or rings yet, but I do get a lot of clad for my 3-4 hours I spend hunting. I typically get between 2-4 dollars evey time I go out. I think I am still missing a few things but experience and time our on my side. Thank you again to all of you that felt my frustration the past couple of months while I was getting the mechanical failures worked out on my quattro. Does anybody live in So. Cal? I would love to go hunting with someone and make a few friends and share ideas!!!

Thanks everyone!

good to hear you got your detector back and it's working okay too. Hope you find a few to go detecting with. I'm afraid, I'm just too far away, in Australia, to meet you for a day's detecting!! The forum comes in handy though, for sharing finds etc.......!

Dear brnhn4, I'm so glad you got it all worked out. Man what an ordeal and a pain in the butt not having the detector to use while it was down. I live in San Diego, Ca. Not sure where your at, but maybe we could hook up sometime. There's a number of guys living around in Souther Cal, some of which in the past posts, suggested getting together and doing some hunting. Let me know where your at, and let's talk. Marc Trainor.

Hi mark! thanks for responding! I to am very happy now. I went out to my local park today and within 15 min. had found two rings! one was silver and the other was brass I believe. But what a surprise for my first two rings. Anyways, I would love to hook up sometime and go hunting in your area. Do you hunt historical places? I would love to try something like that! I guess I should tell you where I live! I am located in Hesperia, approximately 200- 250 miles away from you as a guess. My days off are thur. and fri. but given enough notice I can take any day off. Send me a direct e mail to brnhn4@aol.com and we can exchange phone numbers if you wish. Thank for all the support!!

Yes, Australia is a bit to far but would love to go detecting their sometime. Thanks for all the past kind words..
