newbie needs a tesoro which one is best? Cortes?

Newbie here, I am getting in to treasure hunting. I live on the east coast. Near Charleston full of civil war and good beach digging as well. I need a unit. I am thinking of the Tesoro Cortes, for relic and coin hunting. The soil here is very, ver soft and sand topsoil mix. any advise would be welcome. I may be willing to trade a new Nikon5700 5.0 meg pix for a new cortes. see forsale page. Any advise on what unit to get would be welcome. Thank you.
