Newbie w/250 and Wireless Headset

Hi,

Just got my Ace 250 in the mail last night. Took it out and worked great finding "Pop cans" Our back field is loaded with them. Did find a penny,so 'm on my way.

I want to thank every one on this site for the info I have gleaned already. I lurked about for 2 weeks and made my decision on my equipment based primarily from what I read hear.

I would like to pass some info on about wireless headsets. I am I "Jerry Rigger" by hobby, so when I saw from some of the posts that wireless was possible I decided to try.

Walmart online (Not in stores) has the Sentry H0900 for $19.91 with free shipping to store for pickup. These seem to work great so far. I mounted mine under the control box by drilling two holes in the upper case of the transmitter (after taking it apart) and used the screws that hold the control box. It snugged right up. The attachments are pictures.

I tried it out in different areas with power lines around and got no interference.

I am excited and want to get out more before the snow flies here in Iowa.

Is there much of a delay in you signal???
Others have posted that when using such a device that the delayed tone required a bit more of a learning curve...which I am happy to tackle if the tone response is not too far delayed.

Best thing i've found is the grey and white ones at radio shack. They're awesome, absolutely no delay. Had em for 2 years and still going great. They're rechargable and very comfortable and lightweight too. $60 but worth every penny to me.They have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee if you don't like them. I rarely detect without them. Here is the Catalog #: 33-1253

I have the same system and it works quite well. On occasion I pick up a local fm radio station but that is rare. The phones are very comfortable. I didn;t find any lag time in picking up a signal. With the volume control it is a good combination with the 250....Get Dirty...Dirty Don....

No delay at all. The tones are consistent with the meter readings.
