Tomboy dgr, hello, the sweet spot is right in the middle up in front of where the coil attaches to the shaft. Use the pin point button and hold it over the target you set down on ground until the round bars go to full circle and that will be where your sweetspot is. food for thought- if you get a target that you think might be a a gold ring or earring or the such but it is jumping around and sometimes goes to the negative side, switch over to the prospecting mode and set your iron mask around between 4-7 on bar graph and scan back over target. If the middle of the signal blanks out (signal-blank-tail end of signal) then it is ferrus junk and you can choose to not dig and be fairly safe it was not a good target. If it is a steady strong signal, DIG, it may be gold jewlry. If it does blank out in middle you may want to dig any way to make sure there are not two or more targets there (one being bad target and one good target). I have often found more than one target in a single hole. Just dug a hole 3 days ago with several pennies in it.
