Hello,
I am very new to metal detecting.
How new ?
I am on my way now to go buy my detector !!!!!
I am getting a Fisher F75.
So if anyone could suggest any settings that would be good for be to start with while learning.
Or if any one has any tip or suggestions I would appreciate it greatly.

A great big welcome to the hobby and welcome to this forum. U want find any better group of fellers anywhere. The wealth of knoledge is simply baffling. Read the forum. Read everything u can on tbe f 75. Its one of the best and most versatile detectors on the market. Sometimes its tough on beginners so dont give up give it time and be patient. I would suggest default mode 2 tones 15 disc and 60 sensativity. Deep tones will be iron high tones will be everything else. I also suggest digging everything thats not iron till u get a feel fir the vdi #s. If we can help in any way just shout out. Dont be afraid to ask questions. And if u have the extra money i strongly suggest buying a pinpointer....good luck....jeremi in Alabama

I have an F70, I too would start in DE mode, Disc 6-15, start with sensitivity 60 and Threshold -3. I would try tone 1/1F. I like tone 1 which seems to help reduce the noise for me.

I'm just going to ditto what was said above: Run default settings.They are now (older f-75's the default disc was set at 10) ; disc 15 sens 60, 3 tone. Read the booklet thoroughly and ground balance to your soil at the spot you are detecting. Dig all at first to learn, and master pinpointing (easy on the 75).

I've had my 75 since they first came out and still use it as my main unit. It's lightning fast and plenty deep. Between the people on this forum and your manual you should be set to be successful at finding the goodies, good luck and welcome.

As has been mentioned, run it for a while in the default settings until you get a good feel for what it is saying. If you have a couple of wood chip lots in your area, swing over those and dig everything. Usually plenty of targets, unless Mudpuppy has gotten to them first, and just a good easy spot to start out on. Welcome and good luck. be careful, though, this is a rather addictive hobby. You are getting ready to go through the Fisher F series "101 class". So many professors here that I can't menion them all; Elton is the dean of "high performance metal detecting". You will really learn something here. I just push a broom here but can blow some of the other guys away on the brand X forums...

if your brand new i would suggest making a test garden bury different coins at different depths also get a garrett propointer for faster recovery of targets, also a good digging tool is a must dont go to the parks or schoolyards with a shovel just use a digger there some good videos on utube on proper digging methods and on the f75 that will help you alot. let us know how you do with your new machine good luck hh

Great advice learn to recover and fill your holes!! Make it look as though you haven't dug. Tote a small hand towel to put the dirt on you remove and dump it back in the hole after removing your target and a good digger and look at investing in a good pinpointer!! Watch some videos on YouTube! Your getting a top of the line detector so your have a great start to having a very successful hobby!! Good luck and remember patience and dedication is a must to be successful in this hobby!
