Next Question Pulse Width

How does it effect a PI's performance. What is the effect of a short Pulse Width vs a Long Pulse Width with respect to depth of detection and size of targets detected. Is there an "ideal" Pulse Width?
Thanks

Hi Beachcomber,
Sorry it's so cold and there are no NorEasters. I'm snug and warm in my workshop with little free time, trying to catch up with detector orders
Yours is an interesting question, and an important one for PI designers. As this is a classroom, I am going to give you some homework to fill the free time Most of the theoretical information is on the Internet and an anagram of where it is to be found is "ice song", which is sort of appropriate. When you get there, look up TN7

Egad, if thats true, I value my GQ a lot more than before. Hand built in England. Kinda like a Lotus sports car JT

Hi JT,
That's about right. I subcontract some of the parts, but all the final assembly and testing I do myself. I wind, shield and pot the coils too. This way I find that I get more consistent quality and performance. Used to have a bigger outfit and employ people, but I prefer it this way.
Eric.

It took a while but a little creative web searching found it.

The last few days warmer weather melted the snow out of the way and I did some xmas day hunting. A rare find in the spots I hunt, thought it was a clad quarter and walked past it, backed up for some reason and dug it.

Hi Eric, a year passed and no one got your clue, including me. I am eager to see the theory and compare it with practical consideration. Nice day, Sid.
