Nice eagle button and a whatzit

Dug this button today after 1" of rain yesterday. The F75 was smoking though the good stuff eluded me. Also found this handle that may have been a clock key. Here is a before and after aluminum jelly shot.This is the 3rd gilted button I have found at this site. All the other eagles I have ever found lacked this kind of gilt. Seems like I heard that the gilted buttons were officer's. Anyone else heard that? Thanks for looking!
